At three o'clock one frostbitten morning of 1997 they were bored and decided to make a true (joke) Norwegian style black metal band. However, there was someone sleeping nearby so they couldn't use an electric guitar or drum kit, so they used an acoustic guitar with Seth slapping his knees and a mattress for percussion. ==About== Impaled Northern Moonforest started out of boredom around 3 am one morning in early 1997. Seth and josh were bored and decide to make up a stupid joke black metal band, but someone was sleeping in the other room, so josh used his acoustic guitar, and Seth played "drums" on his leg and mattress. I.N.M. never really planned on doing much more than that. Then, one day, there was a 3 day hardcore festival in Rhode Island. Spazz was headlining the first day. Seth and josh wanted to see Spazz the night before in Boston, but they were playing an AxCx show the same night. So, anyways, the promoter called Seth and asked if he knew of any bands who could fill in since a lot of bands cancelled. After saying no, they had a scheme, throw a band together, and have Seth's little brother be in it so he could drive us there (Seth & josh didn't have cars at the time). They decided to have the band, Impaled Northern Moonforest be that band. So, after stopping at some dumb cunt's house to buy coke, they headed down to Rhode Island. Seth's brother isn't at all interested in being in a band, so it's funny seeing how nervous he was. After all this to see Spazz, Josh only watched about 1 song, and Seth was too busy drinking and doing coke outside the club to be bothered watching them. Later that year, they did more shows (just Seth & Josh, Seth's brother only played keyboards for one show) with the likes of Anal Cunt, Insult, Gang Green, etc. They also filled in when Monstrosity showed up late for a show. At the Gang Green/AxCx/Insult show, I.N.M. sold a demo (which later turned up to be on the 7"). The song titles on the demo are completely different than the 7". Seth & Josh lost their copies of the demo cover that had the original titles on it, and had to make up new ones for the 7". A couple people bought demos at that show. Anyways, I.N.M. played a few more shows (including one with AxCx/324/etc. in Tokyo, Japan) and broke up. There are rumours of I.N.M. doing something new eventually...... *They have never practised, as practising is for posers *There are no known photos of them recording or performing (that was intentional) *The creative process involved in thinking up song titles involved "thinking of dumb sounding names we thought would fit into that whole black metal thing" *There are no real lyrics except for the occasional "Satan" or some other blasphemous inverted word *Impaled Northern Moonforest have played between 5 and 10 shows, all taking place in the Boston area, Rhode Island, Colorado and Japan. There are no plans for any new shows, but plans aren't usually made for new shows (they just happen). *Only 200 copies were made of their first album. This is because they were under the impression that no more than 4 or so people would buy a copy. Seth (the singer) said that at first he thought that 200 copies was too many. *Seth doesn't actually listen to much black metal, or know much about it except that he doesn't like most black metal bands that have been around since the mid 1980s onwards. *There are no plans for a full length album, and it is very unlikely (yet still possible) that one will be made. "I can't imagine anyone wanting to hear a full length I.N.M. record, or I can't imagine us wanting to record that much. Anything's possible though" writes Seth. *The song titles on the self titled album are completely different to the original titles. Seth "lost the original demo cover like a moron" (his words). As a result, he often loses sleep knowing that such avante garde brutality is forever lost. There were a couple of copies of the demo with the original cover sold. *All the songs were improvised - singing, guitar and knee slapping. Tabs are not available. Josh has this to say about tabs: "Sorry but there are no INM tabs. Obviously that would be impossible. Even if I could tab the songs out, the evilness of the riffs would cause the paper to crumble into the very depths of Hell." *Seth has written a song title that contains about 10 variants of the word "Abazagorath" (such as Abazagoration, Abazagorizing etc.) *In the first song (Grim and Frostbitten Moongoats of the North), you can hear Seth coughing. It was from a cold he got while doing something scary in the inverted northernmost necroforest of a;kjsdhfyoagtaffffzz *Seth hasn't heard of the black metal band Abazagorath and agrees they must be some posers. Herr lurkki came up with the idea of recording a tribute for the Impaled Northern Moon Forest in the nearby forests. The weather was frosty and extremely grim as might be expected. It was the first time of trying anything like this, but our efforts were not in vain, for it turned out to be even grimmer and more frostbitten than we had hoped. The "instruments" used in these recordings were an old, satanically colored and very grim accordion, two totally worn-out and cropped ture evil drumsticks (of which the other one got lost in the forest because it was a pitch black night as might be expected for such an evil purpose) and an acoustic guitar (a very frostbitten one of course). Also, we had a birchbark horn but for some reason it didn't seem to work. Later on we found out it was for decorative use only... Well, anyway, the recordings resulted a mind-destroying set of two incredibly primitive and necrowizard hailing songs + a satanically inverted intro and a nekrovomited outro of nekroyetis mating. Cellar Sessions, winter 2004 After suffering some serious frostbites from the legendary first forest sessions we decided to continue our grim triumph in a place with quite the opposite atmosphere. The murky cellar had a ture ÖRGHish feeling to it and the blasphemously evil echo was a very brutal addition. As the torturing of the so called instruments went on, we found ourselves recording at least five versions of each song and then agreeing that the first one was also the best. Sounds like a waste of time to you? For us, an excuse to drink more beer. It was the most longeviting recording session thus far, and it still is. The outcome was a devastating 4 inverted songs in addition to 2 other nekrosodomizing songs that had a truly gloomy electric guitar in them.
